***Warning ~ The One Where Miladysa Gets Political***
A few days ago my fellow blogger Ghost wrote a post entitled ‘Emergence’ and asked a question; “What drives you to write a post?” Ironically today I find myself inspired by something he posted yesterday.
I have always enjoyed Ghost’s excellent writing which includes fiction, poetry and the occasional insights into his daily life.
Coming from two completely different worlds we have managed to achieve a friendship through blogging which I doubt would have been possible for either of us in any other way.
Yesterday, Ghost wrote a post entitled ‘Malaysian Indians Under Siege.’ Describing live events that were taking place around him, he wrote:
“This is a march for basic Human Rights and Indian Malaysian rights underlined in the constitution of Malaysia and the Human Rights charter of the United Nations.”
I was shocked by what I was reading and turned on the television to watch the BBC News; there was no mention of the demonstrations taking place in Malaya.
The BBC News Website reported the events this way:
"Malaysian police break up rally"
I fully support the Malayan Indian protestors with their:
“demand for measures to improve the living standards of Hindus.”
Their call for:
“reparations from the UK for sending Indians as indentured labourers a century ago”
only goes to demonstrate just how far apart our worlds really are. After all, Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx were part educated by the plight of the British working classes.
2 Worlds but not necessarily geographically speaking.

Here in your kitchen
Where all around you lies
The debris of your
Fallen world
I pretend it is
What I want
Here in the outside world
Where all around you floats
The women you have
Lied and never loved
I pretend it will
Never happen to me
Here in your bed
Where all around you sleeps
What is left of me
Damaged and lost
I pretend there is
Something between us

and sometimes
it’s a grey dog that lies down with me
between light and dark
eyes pleading
to run through
the darkness within
and sometimes
I softly stroke his head and say
not today
nor tomorrow
chew your bone
I will not play
and sometimes
I throw the ball he places at my feet
and together
we chase the prey
coats changing to black
textures dull and deep
And sometimes
I pull him close and invite inside
where all is warm
tails wag
as we sleep
and grey turns to white…

I love discovering new websites and thought that the following two were great ideas and worth sharing:
Since its launch in October the Vocabulary Game on the FREE RICE website has generated enough rice to feed 50,000 people for one day!
The idea is that for every correct answer a player achieves the site donates 10 grains of rice which is then distributed through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
Companies advertising on the site provide the money for the WFP to buy and distribute the rice.
The game is free to play, enjoyable and a novel idea to help others less fortunate than ourselves.
1000.boxs.com is owned by Marius Akelsen who came up with a novel and interesting advertising approach.
The site contains a thousand boxes of various colours and each box provides the owner with a title, text and links to their own website.
The first 100 boxes are free on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and when these have been occupied the remaining boxes will be sold for $100 each.
I am now the proud owner of my own little box! If you would like your own all you have to do is visit the site and then email Marius.

'Halloween' in this part of the world is traditionally more about staying inside where it is safe rather than venturing out into the night at the time of the year where the spirits are most likely to be encountered.
We play games to occupy ourselves and keep out of mischief, many of the games involve apples. Bobbing for apples involves filling a container with water and catching an apple with your teeth without using hands or the sides of the container to assist. Once we have the apple we attempt to peel it in one piece and if we are successful the apple skin should form the letter of our true loves first name.
Sleeping with an apple under your pillow on this night will result in dreaming of your true love and for those who are truly courageous looking in a mirror at midnight whilst holding an apple will result in the image of your true love staring back at you in the glass...
The fire in the Jack O'Lantern prevents the spirits from entering the house and causing harm to the souls within; fingers crossed ours worked its magic last night!
