Quirks and Two For Tuesday
20 May 2008
Sidney tagged me with the Quirky Tag the other day, I am supposed to list the rules of the Tag along with six personal quirks and then tag six people. Here goes:
* I have a rebellious streak - hence I am not listing the rules of this tag or tagging anybody :-D
* I enjoy ironing.
* Shoes and make-up do not and never have rocked my boat.
* I never wear a wristwatch. Any watch I have worn in the past - whether conventional or battery powered ceased to work within a few hours of my wearing it.
* It is claimed that the females on the maternal side of my family are cursed. As a child I made a decision to take after my paternal side of the family.
* When I hold coins in my hand I can taste them. I avoid handling coppers as much as possible.
Travis Erwin introduced me to The Women of Mystery and their most enjoyable Two For Tuesday Ritual. Participants list two sentences they have read and two sentences they have written.
Two I have read:
"The drought-stricken Louisiana town of Bristol Springs was turning into a living grave."
Night Brothers by Sidney Williams my Quirky tagger above.
"I can't give up on the feeling of your cue ball smashing midnight into morning"
Space to Forgive by the amazing RRN
Two of my own:
"His beauty astonished her but it was his eyes that captivated what was left of her sanity."
A Second Longer
"At other times, especially in the cold of winter, when frost coated the ground and the nights crept in early there was a part of her that was certain if time could be replayed she was still capable of giving up her soul to him."

he he ... most enjoyable read ... i was smiling (actually laughing) right from the moment I learnt abt your rebellious attitude :P..... you were so smart as a child Miladysa ... I am just wondering what would have happened had you not taken that decision .... you would have been one of the characters in ROYDS that you now write from a 3rd person's angle :) I really enjoyed this .... Good Night from my end :)

You have wonderful "quirks," Milady! The ones you listed show you're very aware of your thoughts and feelings and how you react to things around you -- very cool. I love to do laundry. It's so satisfying and there's nothing like folding nice warm things out of the dryer. Love the writing examples, too!

I especially like the first of your two sentences. You took what could have been an ordinary desription of her attraction and added an intriguing tesit by mentioning her shaky insanity.

HAHA quirky Miladysa! I DON'T enjoy ironing and only do so for weddings and funerals! Like Melissa said, you've had an awareness since young which I'm sure is a huge part of the secret at Royds :))

Your sentences are quite lyrical.

Hum, I was thinking I'd posted on this one. Was saying what a treat you were in for with Sid's book. Night Brothers is great work. Also I really enjoy the two lines from your own work here from "Bound to the Earth."

Wolfie - I think not :-D
Am In Trance - Thank you :-D
Don't stay up too late and God Bless you also.
Charles - Your first comment is probably drifting in the blog ether :[
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to comment twice - really appreciated.
I am looking forward to reading Blood Brothers and have news of Wings of Talera. Apparently it was all packaged and loitering in despatch at Amazon. They have promised me that it is on it way and should reach me before the weekend! :-D

I wonder if there is a connection between #4 and #6. Then again, maybe #5 is to blame-- you are cursed with an unusual relationship with metals.
:)

Wolfie - That's because there is meant to be NO ties on you... hee hee
Aine - Could be :-D *shivers* lol
